President's Profile
When the country was still in the early stages developing its IT industry, an entrepreneurial man in his twenties was already well on his way to realizing his dream of owning and operating one of the biggest chains of IT training and education centers. In 1991, the enterprising and visionary man, Dato’ Idrus Mohd Satha, after completing a BSc Computer Science and Master in Computer Information System from University of Evansville, Indiana, USA, left his System Analyst job to plant the seeds of what would be his first of many centers in years to come. The first centre was opened in Kuala Lumpur. Since then, the Cosmopoint brand has become a household name, turning into reality the dreams of generations of Malaysians in pursuit of the best of what ICT has to offer. Fueled by the vision to provide every Malaysian with the necessary IT skills to excel in any areas of specialty, Cosmopoint Technology College has to-date set up a chain of colleges all across the country, 13 in all. In 2006, Cosmopoint was granted a licence to operate a university by the Ministry of Higher Education and thereupon and thereupon, has since undertaken to build the new tertiary establishment under the brandname, Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College or KLMU. Working alongside the relevant government and ministerial bodies, today KLMU aims to continue striving to bring out the best in people through formal and informal training, skills-building and education by offering the widest variety of specialization/fields that are in line with the needs of the market and industry. Dato’ Idrus was the winner for Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007, Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award. He was also the finalist for ICT Achievers 2003, PIKOM 2003 ICT Awards and Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Malaysia 2003. In 2002, he was nominated to represent Malaysia for the 8th World Young Business Achiever in Manila, Philippines. Apart from these, he holds memberships in various business councils in Canada and Australia and associations such as the Association for Computing Machinery (USA), and PIKOM. He also sits on the Board for Human Resource Skills Development Fund, Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia. Dato’ Idrus has also spoken at various seminars and conferences locally and overseas where his passion for entrepreneurship in ICT has touched many lives. He is passionate about steering Cosmopoint Group of Colleges into becoming the number one education and training institution in all disciplines, whether in the traditional or modern sectors. He envisions Cosmopoint as a global provider of training, education and consulting services of the highest order and accolades.
